TikTok Pixel: Conversion Tracking for TikTok Ads

The TikTok pixel is a piece of code placed on a website that tracks visitor actions to measure conversions, optimize campaigns, and build audiences for TikTok advertising.

TikTok Pixel

The TikTok pixel is TikTok's advertising tracking tag. Installed on a store, it exposes a ttq() function that records events such as ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout, and CompletePayment, then reports them to TikTok Ads Manager.

With that data, advertisers can attribute sales to specific TikTok campaigns, let TikTok's algorithm optimize toward buyers, and retarget people who browsed but didn't purchase. On Shopify, the pixel is usually installed through the official TikTok sales channel app, which can also enable the Events API for server-side tracking.

The TikTok pixel is especially common on trend-driven, impulse-purchase stores, because TikTok's short-video feed is a powerful engine for making products go viral. As with other ad pixels, many stores now combine the browser pixel with server-side events to keep tracking accurate under modern privacy restrictions.
